OG40 releases two new IPAs
New head brewer for North Park brewpub, The Original 40 Brewing, debuts IPAs both clear and hazy, wicked and weepy
North Park’s The Original 40 Brewing has released Sinfully Wicked West Coast IPA and Rye You Crying? Hazy IPA. Both beers are available on draft and in four packs of 16-ounce cans.
Sinfully Wicked is 6.66% alcohol-by-volume (ABV), and features CTZ hop extract along with Chinook, Amarillo, Citra, Columbus, Mosaic and Simcoe hops. It has aromas of citrus and tropical fruits – mainly grapefruit, orange and lemon – with underlying pine notes, resinous notes and a hint of earthy spiciness.
“Sinfully Wicked might be our most hop-forward IPA to date,” said The Original 40 Head Brewer Steven Teran. “The recipe was carefully calculated to get the appropriate ABV for its name, as well. This is an excellent choice for hop enthusiasts who are looking for a beer with depth and character, while maybe looking to take a little walk on the sinful side.”
Sinfully Wicked is one of four West Coast IPAs on The Original 40’s current draft menu, joining Big Tings Double West Coast IPA, Left Coast and Westerly Flow.
Rye You Crying? is 7% ABV, was brewed with flaked rye and dry-hopped with Nelson Sauvin, Mosaic and Motueka. The beer has subtle citrus tasting notes and aromas of passionfruit, gooseberry and a hint of lychee. The flaked rye adds a subtle spice flavor at the end and a more full mouthfeel.
“You’ll be crying your eyes out with this one…out of pure joy,” said Teran. “We are excited to roll out this beer having not used flaked rye in recent memory. No lie, you’ll love the rye that balances sweetness and earthiness.”
Rye You Crying? is one of three hazy IPAs on the draft menu, joining Stratiform and the award-winning Juice Maze.
