RationAle launches first priced series seed round
Alliance with LA Libations and Homestead Brands to accelerate growth for Encinitas-born non-alcoholic beer distributed across 15 states
RationAle Brewing today announced the launch of its first priced Series Seed financing round and a strategic growth alliance with LA Libations and Homestead Brands. Together, these initiatives are designed to support accelerated retail
development, priority-market expansion and the company’s next stage of growth heading into 2027.
According to NIQ data, RationAle is growing at five times the rate of the U.S. NA (non-alcoholic) craft beer category, is the #1 NA craft beer brand in velocity across Southern California, the #2 NA craft beer brand by dollar market share in San Diego, and ranks among the top 10 nationally in NA craft beer dollar-share growth—all while operating in just 15 states.
RationAle’s momentum comes as the broader non-alcoholic category continues to expand. According to NIQ, U.S. non-alcoholic beer, wine and spirits reached $1.08 billion in sales, up 14.6%, marking a third consecutive year of double-digit growth.
“Our confidence comes from what consumers and retailers are telling us through the data,” said RationAle co-founder & CCO Wendy Pickett. “In an increasingly crowded category, getting on the shelf isn’t enough—you have to move once you get there. We’re delivering velocity, earning repeat purchases and demonstrating that RationAle can help retailers grow the broader NA craft beer category.”
“RationAle is doing this the right way,” said 3 Tier Beverages founder and Principal Donn Bichsel Jr.. “They own their home market: #1 in NA craft beer velocity across Southern California and #2 in NA craft beer dollar market share in San Diego. They’ve expanded into 15 states and now rank top 10 nationally in NA craft beer dollar-share growth. We built that plan with them, and the numbers are backing it up. And the category keeps growing. NIQ has NA beer, wine and spirits at $1.08 billion, up 14.6%, a third straight year of double-digit growth. 2027 and 2028 are going to be big years for this brand.”
Investing in the Next Phase of Growth
RationAle’s first priced Series Seed financing round is designed to accelerate retail expansion, strengthen priority markets and support continued product innovation, while providing a pathway for more than 100 loyal and passionate early investors to convert their outstanding investments into equity. These investors have supported RationAle’s journey from its earliest days, helping
build the foundation for the company’s next chapter.
RationAle’s expansion strategy is driven by category and retailer-level data rather than a race to accumulate states. The company identifies markets and retailers over-indexing on NA craft beer growth and then commits the resources required to build distribution, retail execution, trial and sustained consumer demand.
Throughout 2026, RationAle has invested behind wholesale relationships and retail opportunities ahead of the spring 2027 reset cycle. The strategy is intentionally simple: go deeper before going wider.
“We don’t believe winning nationally means being everywhere,” said RationAle co-founder Jamie Fay. “The data tells us where the category is growing, which retailers are driving that growth and where RationAle has the greatest opportunity to win. We would rather invest deeply in the right markets, build strong velocities and become meaningful to our retail and wholesale partners than simply put another state on the map.”
Strategic Partnerships to Support Targeted Market Expansion
Through its strategic alliance with LA Libations and Homestead Brands, RationAle will leverage its strong consumer demand and quality-led portfolio alongside the partners’ commercialization, retail and market-development capabilities. Together, they will focus on strengthening priority markets, accelerating retail opportunities and building the infrastructure required for RationAle’s next stage of growth.
“RationAle has built a strong brand foundation with genuine consumer demand and proven retail velocity,” said LA Libations’ Danny Stepper. “We believe the brand is at the right stage for us to bring our relationships, resources and experience alongside the team to accelerate what is already working.”
“RationAle has been disciplined with capital, established meaningful proof of concept and still has significant distribution whitespace ahead,” said Homestead Brands CEO Tom Larsen. “Strong underlying performance combined with substantial room to scale creates an exciting opportunity to help build long-term value.”
The company is also expanding its innovation pipeline in partnership with Asahi Brewing USA, combining RationAle’s consumer and brand perspective with Asahi’s brewing expertise, technology and scaled production capabilities. The work is focused on creating new drinking occasions and bringing additional consumers into the NA craft beer category.
Together, RationAle’s commercial alliances, production capabilities and newly launched Series Seed financing initiative position the company to build upon its retail momentum, deepen its presence in priority markets and pursue substantial remaining distribution opportunities throughout 2027 and 2028.
