Beer of the Week: Cloud Pleaser

Pure Project Brewing teams with fellow early adopters from Ambitious Ales to hype eco-friendly brewery ops software via murky IPA medium

As a small business owner and head of a media outlet, I rely on a variety of specialty softwares to handle everything from publishing, delivery and surveys to basic business functions such as accounting and contracts. I am glad such solutions exist but am by no means enamored with any of them…especially when that monthly or annual invoice hits my inbox. As such, I find it impressive and noteworthy when brewery owners and executives speak enthusiastically about any of their similar systems and vendors. Case in point, the team at Vista-based Pure Project Brewing, when they recently went on and on about Frigid.Cloud, a cloud-based software that helps them precisely manage temperature-control at their production facility, reducing unnecessary energy consumption as well as the company’s overall carbon footprint. (I won’t pretend to have an engineering mind, so if you’d like to learn more about how this software works, I’ll refer you to this informative blog post.) Pure Project is the second brewery in the country to use Frigid.Cloud, following in the footsteps of their friends and fellow early adopters, Ambitious Ales. Not long after installing the software, that Long Beach operation earned a gold medal for one of its hazy IPAs at the 2024 Great American Beer Festival. Needless to say, they’re big fans of it, as well, enough to happily team with Pure Project to craft this week’s featured beer, Cloud Pleaser. An opaque “murky IPA” brewed with Nelson Sauvin, Mosaic Cryo and Strata Abstrax hops, its as much about delivering flavors and aromas of Satsuma orange, pineapple and red currant, as it is raising awareness about technology both breweries believe can make a positive difference on a widespread scale throughout the craft-beer industry.

When I heard how the Frigid.Cloud software was being utilized by friends at Ambitious Ales, I was super intrigued and knew this was something that could be really beneficial for our brewery. With Frigid.Cloud, we can optimize our energy use and craft our beer with less impact on the planet, which has been our goal since day one. I’m excited to collaborate on this special IPA with an awesome brewery that also uses this forward-thinking technology, and I think our fans will be happy with the result. It’s incredibly rewarding to see our passion for brewing align with software that not only operates reliably, but also helps us brew more sustainably. This kind of tech makes me excited for the future, not just for our brewery, but for the ways tools like this can help make brewing a more sustainable industry.”
