Beachwood Animatronic Friends | West Coast IPA (7.1%): It has been a little while since the last West Coast IPA from Beachwood landed! With a band of anthropomorphic non-stop mop-topped hops crop playing their rock instruments at the shop, the label is a playful nostalgic throwback. The grain-bill has a familar bed of 2-Row, but intriguingly includes Canadian-grown pilsner malt. The hops are (as per usual) the stars of the show, with a woodsy grapefruit foundation of old-school PNW varietals (Centennial & Columbus), atop which is layered Ekuanot Cryo, Mosaic and the increasingly prevalent HBC-586. Drink it now before the house lights come on!

pFriem Czech Lager | Czech-style Pale Lager (5.1%): This is an exceptional beer even by the sky-high standards that pFriem sets. Pillowy soft pilsner malt from the renowned Sladovny malthouse in Moravia meets Bohemian Saaz (i.e. Žatec) hops for a bready and refreshing lager. I strongly recommend that everybody drink this beer, as it will doubtlessly enrich your life and brighten your day.

Brasserie d’Orval Orval | Brett Pale Ale (6.9%): Orval Day 2024 approaches! Falling this Saturday the 23rd, this latest of beer holidays celebrates the most singular of Trappist beers. Is there any beer like Orval? Fermented with Saccharomyces (i.e. brewer’s yeast) but bottle-conditioned with Brettanomyces (a famed wild strain imparting rustic barnyard aromas), the final beer is hugely carbonated and bracingly dry. The associated iconic bowl-shaped chalice is a treasured piece of glassware in our collection and will be gladly broken out for the occasion. À votre santé!
