Gene Fielden | Bottlecraft North Park Manager
Whether you call it die Weltmeisterschaft, la Copa Mundial or the World Cup, the biggest sporting event on planet Earth is once again upon us. Occurring only once every four years, it is a ritual of competition, nail-biting moments and euphoric celebration the world over. Matches will be shown during regular opening hours at Bottlecraft North Park and Little Italy as well as Bock Bar in South Park ‒ the latter also will be opening early for kickoff depending on the timing. Here are three beers released for the occasion!
Burgeon Copa | International Lager (4.2%): Local favorite Burgeon Beer Co. is at it again! A crisp pale lager brewed for the football tournament, this is one to consume in multiples while cheering on your favorite team. The iconography on the can shows an anthropomorphic planet Earth cheerily pouring a trophy full of beer down its gullet, while a goal wearing sunglasses looks on approvingly. Not entirely within the rules of the game, but no need for a yellow card!
Duvel Imperial Blond | Belgian Strong Golden Ale (10%): The demand for this one has been breathtaking. Situated in a boxed four-pack with a commemorative painted tulip glass within, this special release by Duvel Moortgat out of northern Belgium has been a runaway success since its arrival at the shop. The glass is painted with splashes and swaths of color with the words “USA 2026” emblazoned alongside. The beer itself evinces that familiar classic Duvel character, but with a touch more phenolic tones from the yeast and the alcohol cranked up another percentage point and a half. Hier is dat feestje!
Grimm Extra Time | Light Lager (4.3%): To the consternation of many, football is one of those sports where the result can be a draw. This is a completely normative and even expected outcome during these early Group Stage matches. However, once the later phases of the tournament are underway, up to two 15-minute increments of extra time commence. These can end up being the most exciting moments of a given clash between two teams ‒ so grab one of these lagers from Brooklyn and pay close attention!
