ISM / Hércules Lúpulo Gigante | West Coast IPA (6.6%): Once upon a time, we received occasional beers from Cervecería Hércules, the leading light of craft beer in Querétaro in central Mexico. Sadly none have been forthcoming through import channels these last few years, but happily ISM Brewing in downtown Long Beach has brewed a collab with them! With classic C-hops Chinook and Columbus augmented by Mosaic and Simcoe, this is a firmly dank West Coast IPA, and the first new release from ISM in some time. This is one to go for the full four-pack on. ¡Salud!
Burgeon / Mcilhenney Chilly Bin | Hoppy Pilsner (5.1%): When the brewers at Burgeon Beer Co. concocted this collaborative Pilsner with McIlhenney Brewing out of Alpine two-and-a-half years ago, little did they realize what a sensation it would prove to be. Cans sold out in six hours and a second batch was hurriedly prepared for release a month hence. To cap things off, the beer took home a pair of prizes at the 2024 San Diego Beer News Awards in the Can Design and Collaboration Beer categories! Hopped with a binload of New Zealand varietals, this triumphant latest appearance will surely not be the last. Cheers!
Brasserie d’Orval Orval | Brett Pale Ale (6.9%): Orval Day 2026 approaches! Falling on Saturday the 21st, this beer holiday celebrates the most singular of Trappist beers. Is there any beer like Orval? Fermented with Saccharomyces (i.e. brewer’s yeast) but bottle-conditioned with Brettanomyces (a famed wild strain imparting rustic barnyard aromas), the final beer is hugely carbonated and bracingly dry. The associated iconic bowl-shaped chalice is a treasured piece of glassware in our collection and will be gladly broken out for the occasion. À votre santé!
