What We're Drinking 2026
Gene Fielden at Bottlecraft North Park

Gene Fielden | Bottlecraft North Park Manager

It is triple IPA season! The month of February sees a proliferation of these high-octane hoppy beers each and every year. Here are three of the best ones we can lay hands on in cans, all of which contain Citra and Mosaic hops at bare minimum:

Beachwood Hops of Fury | Triple IPA (11%): Beachwood Brewing strikes again! Highly limited ‒ as in, ten cases for all of San Diego ‒ Hops of Fury is an unabashed beer. Loaded with the aforementioned Citra and Mosaic alongside classic C-hops Chinook and Columbus, this one is firmly bitter and dank. No need to be furious while drinking it, however!

Fremont Extra Lush | Triple IPA (9.8%): At a relatively demure 9.8% ABV (alcohol-by-volume) and packaged in a fiery orange 12-ounce can, Extra Lush is the most sessionable of this week’s trio. Inspired by Fremont Brewing’s wildly popular flagship Lush IPA, this edition cranks up the Citra/Mosaic dichotomy and and malts in turn. Easily the best price-to-ABV ratio in the shop!

El Segundo Power Plant | Triple IPA (11.1%): No stranger to hard-hitting West Coast IPAs that are never unbalanced (see Hammerland), El Segundo Brewing has slotted itself snugly into an annual tradition. The can is instantly recognizable with bold swathes of red and white, bookended by jagged black lightning bolts indicating a high-voltage drinking experience.
