A very special single-brewery set of picks this week!

Homage ¿Donde? | West Coast IPA (6.8%): The outstanding Homage Brewing – headquartered in Pomona but now also comfortably ensconced down the street from Highland Park Chinatown in Los Angeles – has made a delivery-run to our fair city! Debuting for us San Diegans is flagship West Coast IPA ¿Donde?, which picks a theme and sticks to it. An all-Mosaic hop bill ensures tropicalismo in a can. The answer to the question posed by the beer is: ¡Aquí!

Homage Tristeza | Northern German-style Pilsner (5%): Returning for a second pass from the selfsame brewery is Tristeza, a snappy lager in the style of Jever or Flensburger. The north of Germany is known for harder water and a tendency for bracingly dry pilsners that accentuate austere bitterness. Tristeza is available not only in cans but also (at the time of this writing) on draft at Bottlecraft North Park, so stop by for a splash before making your decision if you like? Prost!

Homage Wild Pink Robots | Strawberry Sour Ale (6%): Before venturing into “clean” beers such as the two above, Homage was chiefly known for mixed-fermentation creations, with or without fruit additions. For the first time ever, we have been granted a few SKUs of the types of ales that helped put Pomona on the craft beer map! Wild Pink Robots is a terrific example of synchronicity in seasonality, as the strawberry harvest is in full swing; I have been enjoying those grown by Kawano Farms* every morning of late. A barrel-aged tart saison is allowed to condition on strawberries for gentle delicate funk. This is not the only beer in the Robots series to have materialized, mind you…

* I have no affiliation with Kawano and am merely a huge fan. Try their wares at any farmers’ market in town!
