Cellarmaker Cloudy With A Chance Of Dobis | Hazy IPA (6.8%): A direct reference to the children’s literature classic, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, by married couple, Judi and Ron Barrett, this is one entry within the wildly popular Dobis series by Cellarmaker Brewing. Each beer with “Dobis” in the title will assuredly feature Citra hops, and a lot of them. The can art for this particular hazy IPA depicts pineapple raining from the sky over the Bay Bridge connecting the San Francisco skyline and the environs of the East Bay. One final Easter egg of note: atop the packaging date on the underside of the can reads “CITRA PETRICHOR”. Who could ask for anything more?
Wayfinder Glass Dolls | Italian-style Pilsner (4.5%): The popularity of the Italian pilsner shows no sign of letting up momentum, now brewed far and wide beyond the ur-edition by Birrificio Italiano north of Milan. Leaning heavily on continental hop varietals to emphasize herbal, spicy and grassy notes in aroma, the style has proven especially popular here on the West Coast. Wayfinder Beer’s latest foray into the intersection of “lager” and “dry-hopping” sees an intriguing dynamic duo of varietals: Ariana (a new one from the Hüll hop-breeding institute) and Sládek (a cross between Saaz and Northern Brewer with lineage dating back decades). Crisp, snappy and delectable for our latest bout of gorgeous springtime weather.
The Rare Barrel Nowhere To Go | White Peach Sour Ale (7.9%): Long ago, brewers and drinkers ascertained that acidity in beer can be tempered by the addition of fruits high in natural sugars. Stone fruit in all forms provide an ideal foil for sharpness or astringency, or otherwise undesirably low pH. Nowhere to Go leans hard into this line of thinking, with almost two tons of Summer Sweet white peaches going into this 2021 vintage. Stay put and enjoy!
