Gene Fielden | Bottlecraft North Park Manager

Cellarmaker / Riip The Slice is Right | West Coast IPA (6.7%): The love affair that breweries have with expanding into the pizza realm continues unabated (see also: Beachwood Brewing, North Park Beer Co., et al). Cellarmaker Brewing began slinging pies in the Bernal Heights neighborhood of San Francisco back in early 2019 and opened a second pizza place near Jack London Square in Oakland barely two years ago. Inspired by a pizza party that they threw with the Huntington Beach hops wizards at Riip Brewing, the two breweries cooked up a batch of highly aromatic West Coast IPA for us all. Heaps of Motueka, Simcoe and newcomer Zumo (in a mishmosh of both Cryo and T90 pellet forms) impart a citric, piney and bitter sensation for your taste buds.

Lowercase Purity Law Pils | German-style Pilsner (4.5%): Lowercase Brewing has quickly shot onto my top list of of lager breweries in the Pacific Northwest. Each and every one of their releases has been an outstanding example of its respective substyle. Paying homage to the Bavarian Reinheitsgebot is this latest offering, with soft water, delicate Pilsner malt and noble hops. With a kiss of malt sweetness, this is arguably the Golden Grahams of beer. Prost!

Perennial SUMP | Imperial Coffee Stout (11.5): St. Louis consistently punches above its weight in craft brewing. Any city would be proud to be the hometown of Perennial Artisan Ales, Side Project Brewing or Urban Chestnut Brewing, to name but three! An ode to SUMP roastery in that selfsame city, this annual release from Perennial is an unabashed coffee stout, with emphasis on “coffee”. This year’s iteration features washed-process beans from Inzá in Colombia, with the caffeine well-integrated into the dense and rich imperial stout.
