Gold Dot Staggers & Jags | Cold IPA (7.1%): Gold Dot is a new project from the Heater Allen family Oregon, a side-brand brewed and canned at the selfsame McMinnville facility. Rick Allen started up the brewery a quarter-century ago, naming it after his spouse (whose surname at birth was Heater) and himself. Their daughter Lisa Allen is thus a living embodiment of Heater Allen – together with Kevin Davey (her partner in both business and life), she purchased the brewery from Rick in late 2022. Kevin was the initial brewer at Wayfinder and the first person to brew a self-described Cold IPA, so the stage was set for new adventures in cold-fermented hoppy beers. Gold Dot debuted barely a year ago, and only sent a small tranche of this beer (alongside a Dunkel entitled Blue Label) down to California upon the occasion of San Francisco Beer Week. Cheers to Lisa and Kevin!

Harland Yuzu Japanese Lager | Fruited Rice Lager (5%): Far and away the most popular beer from local operation Harland Brewing Company is the Japanese Lager. A cheerfully fizzy rice lager by style, it is easily our best-seller in the category at Bottlecraft North Park. Adding a zing of citrus to the recipe is this new release, utilizing the eponymous fruit (reminiscent of lemon). I do not know offhand whether this is joining the core lineup of Harland or is a limited run, but either way, give it a whirl? Kanpai!

Russian River Beatification | Oak-aged Sour Ale (6%): A tribute to the traditional Lambics of the Pajottenland in the environs of Brussels, Beatification is a spontaneously fermented creation. No yeast was pitched in the inception of this beer – rather, the local microflora (yeasts of all stripes as well as bacteria) began the miraculous process of fermentation, imparting funky and acidic tones as well as vigorous carbonation. A sure and steady hand in blending is another layer of this art form after the beer is aged up in used wine casks. Beatification is a magnum opus of craft beer and a testament to both talent and patience.
