Fieldwork Enigma Juice | Hazy IPA (6.6%): Enigma is an aptly named hop varietal! This mysterious type of hop emanated from Australia less than a decade ago, and made a splash with the late Oskar Blues IPA (nickname: Blue Dream, owing in part to the electric hue of the can) before turning up in Bottlecraft’s very own 2017 collaboration with Burgeon Beer Co. entitled “Choreograft”. Now it takes center stage in a hazy IPA from Fieldwork Brewing with all of the inscrutable raspberry and melon tones one might expect.
Liquid Gravity Hi-Di-Ho Neighbor! | Hoppy Pilsner (5.9%): The northernmost outpost of Bottlecraft lies in the central Californian city of San Luis Obispo, helmed by our man Sean Casey, who beforehand had been a longtime beloved bartender at Bottlecraft Long Beach. His visage graces the can-art of this hoppy pilsner, shared with Brendan of Liquid Gravity Brewing, an award-winning brewery from the selfsame city. Hilariously, Sean and Brendan are residential neighbors in real life as well. This collaborative lager with Citra, Nelson and Simcoe celebrates friends who are neighbors as well as neighbors who are friends.
Pizza Port Santa’s Little Helper | Imperial Stout (10%): Twenty years after the beer under this name was brewed at Pizza Port Solana Beach, it has undergone a full recursion to origin. Long under the aegis of Port Brewing, with variations (coffee, hazelnut) presenting themselves in the interim, Santa’s Little Helper materialized this year in the familiar 16-ounce can six-pack format that Pizza Port has popularized. An unabashed imperial stout with no additives, this little helper will assist you as well as Santa in having a delightful holiday season.
