A Thanksgiving edition of the picks this week!

Alvarado Street Give Thanks | Hazy Double IPA (8%): The official Thanksgiving beer of Alvarado Street Brewery is a hazy double IPA, densely packed with high-protein grains, aromatic hops and three different ester-heavy yeast strains. With the Norman Rockwell painting “Freedom From Want” adorning the can – a gauzy depiction of a family dinner from the early 1940s – Alvarado harkens back to a vanished era. We give thanks to them for sending along this delicious beer in time for the holiday weekend!

Seek Coping Skills | West Coast Pilsner (5.6%): While the holidays are a time of celebration, they also come with their concomitant stresses and strains. It can take some coping skills to surmount them! Happily, our friends at Seek Beer Co. have plenty of Coping Skills for us all in the form of their new hoppy Pilsner. I enjoyed a pint of this two weekends ago while sitting outdoors at the brewery – before the rains came – and resolved to order it for our shelves. Hopped with Nelson and Simcoe, but still very recognizably a Pilsner, this is a stellar new recipe from Seek.

Fonta Flora Supper Table | Autumn Ale (5.2%): The esoteric Fonta Flora Brewery – one of the very few from North Carolina who distribute to California – crafts agriculturally-focused beers across a wide range of styles. Supper Table is an autumnal seasonal meant to evoke the aromas and flavors of sweet potato pie. Replete with that selfsame tuber as well as allspice, cardamom, cinnamon, clove, ginger and vanilla, this beer has earned a place in your dessert course!
