What We're Drinking 2026

This is likely the final fresh-hop column of the season!

Human People Mister Golden Sun | Fresh Hop Hazy IPA (6.7%): Citra has ascended to the pantheon of hops varietals, a household name for even casual IPA drinkers. At this time of year, it will undoubtedly be given the fresh-hop treatment by breweries who can access it! Human People Beer generously sent us this fresh-hopped hazy replete with Citra from Westwood Farms in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. Only a few cans remain at the time of this writing, so stop by the shop now!

Fremont Head Full of Fresh Hops | Fresh Hop Hazy IPA (6.8%): While the majority of fresh-hopped beers we receive each harvest season are West Coast IPAs or clear pale ales, there are a few key examples of turbid ones to mention! The final such release by Fremont Brewing each year is a riff on the brewery’s immensely popular Head Full of Dynomite [sic] series of hazies. Always brewed with Mosaic plus at least one other rotating varietal, the 2026 edition has Krush in the fresh-hop addition, imparting bright orange Fanta tones.

Gigantic Sodbusted Simcoezilla | Fresh Hop West Coast IPA (6.2%): This one is for all the monster movie fans out there! Portland’s Gigantic Brewing has made a virtue of utilizing Simcoe in their Sodbusted series each year, with various kaiju creatures bedecking the can-art. Earthy grapefruit aromas and some healthy counterbalancing malt make this a sturdy beast of a beer. Drink this one now before it destroys Tokyo (again!).
