A very special non-alcoholic set of picks to commemorate Dry January…
Fremont N/A IPA | Non-alcoholic IPA (< 0.5%): Who among us does not love Fremont Brewing? Masters of wet-hopped beers, barrel-aged stouts and everything in between, a visit to the brewery in the eponymous neighborhood of Seattle is a must for any beer-lover heading to the Pacific Northwest. With an intriguing line of non-alcoholic beers hitting the shelves of late, Fremont has cannily noted prevailing trends. This dealcoholized IPA is hopped with Citra and Citra Cryo for hop-heads taking a break from alcohol for however long.
Best Day Kölsch | Non-alcoholic Kölsch (< 0.5%): Capturing the essence of a pale lager without alcohol is a tall order. Many have attempted it and failed in years past. Yet Best Day Brewing out of Sausalito has done it, by gum. With both Pilsner and Cologne malts on the grain bill and Hallertau hops, the recipe is befitting of the original top-fermented lagers of Köln. Crisp and light with depth of flavor, lack of alcohol notwithstanding ‒ an achievement by any stretch.
Untitled Art N/A Mango Dragonfruit | Non-alcoholic Fruited Sour Ale (< 0.5%): Even sour ales have joined the sober party! Wisconsin’s Untitled Art has a veritable galaxy of non-alcoholic beers, but the Mango Dragonfruit has proven to be among the most popular. With a healthy dose of real fruits (mango, guava and pitaya) and a gentle tartness, this is for those who frequent the juice bar.
