Ultimate San Diego Guide: Top Activities and Attractions You Can’t Miss

Hey there, fellow travel enthusiast! Just the other day I was thinking it would be nice to share the sunshine of San Diego in a more engaging activity- contributing to this blog. And it is going to be really fun!

Now picture this: as soon as you step out of the airport, just like that, the perfect weather grabs you with its warm embrace, just like a hug. San Diego has a lot to offer: mouthwatering cuisines that will make your palate dance, tantalizing beaches to quench your selfie thirst, and outdoor activities that will keep an overactive tourist occupied for a couple of weeks.

Let’s lay down some groundwork first – Beach. No I’m serious; you cannot land in San Diego and not dip your feet in that smooth and soft sand. La Jolla Shores takes the prize because some of these waves can make surfers shiver in fear. And do not even let me go on about Coronado Beach- it’s like seeing a picture as the Hotel del Coronado at the rear creates a perfect background. Pro Tip: Pack some food, head to the beach, and immerse yourself in pure beauty as you watch the Sun disappearing under the horizon. It’s amazing, trust me.

If, on the contrary, you were thinking of an infusion of culture (and perhaps a much-needed respite from all the Sun), Balboa Park should be of the utmost priority. This place is like Disneyland for museum nerds; you have museums, 18 of them all in one area! You can go from watching paintings to that of space that too in a matter of few hours. Oh, and did I say that even a world-class zoo is hidden in the corner? Yes, it’s that cool.

But this is also when things begin to get more very special – the craft beers of San Diego. Holy hops, Batman! This city can be said to almost be drowning in superb mouthwatering beverages crafted there. Stone Brewing, Ballast Point, Modern Times – these are not simply breweries – they are engagement centers for beer. And the best part? You can tour them all! It’s like when Willy Wonka takes children on a tour of his factory, only this time, instead of Oompa Loompas, you have hairy gentlemen brewers telling you how to ferment barley and hops!

Beaches, breweries; we’ve done it all already, but believe me, that’s only the tip of the iceberg.

Have you ever dreamt of becoming a true waterman or waterwoman? If yes, then Mission Bay is your very own water park! Jet skiing, kayaking, and sailing are just a few of the favorites one will find there. And if you are a ‘don’t go there alone’, do not despair. There are guided tours to put you out on the water as well. Imagine it – a water park, but with no entrance fee and more amusement!

And when the Sun goes down, that’s when things get interesting. Gaslamp Quarter is where the true San Diego part takes over. Close your eyes and imagine this – beautiful Victorian houses glittering from theatrical constructions, mouthwatering tempting dishes drifting from everywhere, and bars and restaurants playing music so loud that we could hear them on the street. The kind you would see on a TV screen has got nothing on that, at least with their cocktails.

San Diego has everything to satisfy anyone’s love for excitement. It’s no different for die-hard sports fans. There are multiple pro and college teams and venues. Even when you’re sunbathing on the beach (I know, tough), you can keep up with your favorite teams with our bet365 bonus code.

Try this:  You’re seated on the beach, cold beer by your side, toes stuck in the sand, and your team scores, putting them ahead of the point spread. Cha-ching! Yes! Winner, winner, chicken dinner. All while chillaxing by the water.

Okay, you’re caught up on sports … so let’s go back and let’s head underwater – well, sort of! The Birch Aquarium is just like you were in the movie Finding Nemo. You are going to see fish that could put even the most colorful rainbow to shame or sea turtles that are plucked right out of the 3D pixels of Pixar. There is the element of education, too, but please, let’s not ruin it for the kids – they will be having too much fun, and they won’t even notice they are having a learning experience!

There is something for all the nature enthusiasts in the Torrey Pines State Reserve, and this should rank highly on your itinerary as well. A run is very common for people in areas where Mother Nature took it upon herself to be extravagant  … especially here, creating this exquisite manifestation of inlets and coastline. The trails are designed for everyone from 100 kg limber couch potatoes to 60kg marathon runners.

The views? Your camera roll will require a new storage upgrade by the end of your trip.

How about that? Want to catch a different view of San Diego and get onto a harbor cruise? It is much like hopping on a sightseeing tour without having to bother about the traffic while on the road. On the other hand, if you’ve come in the winter months, you might even get an eyeful of some whales. You can only imagine how the people back where you are from would give you thumbs-ups for saying, ‘Oh yeah, I just happened to see a few whales on my holiday; not a big deal.’ That’s when you know you are not going to understate things.

Last on this list, but by no means the least – the food. The food!!!! The food scene in San Diego is one of the most diverse I have ever encountered, and everybody seems to come from a different country. Fresh seafood, which likely got out of the ocean only this morning, Mexican food that can only make one exclaim, “Aye Dios Mio. Que Delicioso!” and Michelin-star restaurants that a metropolis has to offer. My two cents? Be there with an empty stomach and make it a cheat dat for you diet.

Starting from the beach, culture, food accolade, and adrenaline infusion, this city has it all. So there, stop reading and pack up your luggage – San Diego is waiting for you!
