Stone Brewing releases Zumology IPA

Limited-edition IPA featuring the new Zumo hop varietal packs monstrous levels of citrus zest

Stone Brewing announces its latest special release, Stone Zumology IPA,  a beer with monstrous levels of citrus zest thanks to the brewery’s early access to the new Zumo hops.

For a brewery as obsessed with hops as Stone is, the annual hop harvest time of year brings the opportunity for mad science. Stone’s brewers partner with hop-growers to breed and experiment with new varieties of hops, including the latest, Zumo, from Segal Ranch in Washington State. Named after the Spanish word for citrus zest, this hop offers a vibrant lime characteristic.

For Stone Zumology IPA, Stone’s brewers put Mosaic hops in the backseat for a change, which truly elevated Zumo’s refreshing zestiness. It starts off with aromas of lime candy. Flavors of lime, lime zest and melon give way to a nice dankness on the finish. It’s smooth and slightly sweet with mild bitterness.

Stone Zumology IPA is 7.5% alcohol-by-volume. It’s no sci-fi man-eating plant, but Zumo’s fierce flavor is remarkable and Stone Zumology IPA is just the evidence we needed.
