San Diego’s ultimate Bavarian celebration returns

Southern California's largest Oktoberfest celebration will return to the charming village of La Mesa from October 4 through 6

Raise your glasses and don your lederhosen – the La Mesa Oktoberfest is set to return on October 4 – 6 for three days of festive fun! Since 1973, La Mesa Oktoberfest has been the crown jewel of Southern California’s Oktoberfest celebrations, offering a unique blend of tradition, community and festivity that sets it apart as the ultimate Oktoberfest and community event. This beloved festival has become an annual pilgrimage for thousands, drawing revelers for three days of vibrant live music, authentic German cuisine, and a plethora of German and craft beers. Now celebrating its 51st year, 2024’s festival is set to exceed all expectations, with the new Artisan Alley, Pumpkin Patch and Flower Shop, Palm Avenue Pub and Grub, and the return of the iconic La Mesa Oktoberfest Ferris wheel!

Biergartens: This October, the quaint streets of La Mesa Village will transform into the largest German celebration in San Diego. Grab your steins and prepare to “prost!” as the festival offers an array of libations to suit every taste bud. Three fully loaded biergartens will feature non-stop performances by local and regional bands, spanning genres from German Polka to indie rock, ensuring entertainment for attendees of all ages. For just $5 (with kids admitted free), guests can access all three unique biergartens with a Biergarten Pass.

  • Hofbräuhaus Biergarten: Features everything from traditional Bavarian and German music, rock bands, pop cover bands and more!
  • Palm Avenue Pub & Grub: This year, we’re elevating the tavern experience with a spacious, shaded tent where you can relax and enjoy your favorite traditional German dishes while catching all the weekend’s NFL and college football action!

Taste of Bavaria and Beyond: With appetites stimulated by the festive atmosphere, attendees can indulge in a mouth-watering array of traditional German fare as well as other international delights. Savor the irresistible aroma of giant pretzels, perfectly grilled bratwurst, and crispy schnitzel, each bite transporting you straight to the heart of Bavaria. La Mesa Oktoberfest will also feature a variety of other delectable options, including sauerkraut, roasted nuts, and decadent desserts like apple strudel. This year, we’re excited to bring back the towering Ferris wheel, a crowd favorite that offers breathtaking views of La Mesa and adds a magical touch to the festivities. For the adventurous, inflatable obstacle courses and slides provide hours of bouncy fun. Pop-Up Pumpkin Patch & Flower Shop: Adding to the charm of the festival, this year we’re excited to introduce a pop-up pumpkin patch where families can pick out the perfect pumpkin to take home.
