Recipes: Burst & Glorious Glide

Mikkeller Brewing SD hops to while Home Brew Mart glides amongst the waves

As part of our San Diego Homebrew Summer program, every Monday between now and the end of August, San Diego Beer News will publish homebrew-scaled recipes for beers professionally produced by craft breweries throughout the county. This week, Mikkeller Brewing San Diego‘s brew crew is peeling back the curtain of their Miramar beermaking lair and handing homebrewers the recipe for its year-round West Coast IPA, Burst. Fortified with Simcoe, Mosaic and Citra, this cheater-hopped creation should easily please the palates of those who love dry, modern IPAs. For those looking for something a little mellower but just as delicious, Home Brew Mart‘s esteemed amateur-brewing envoys have provided the recipe for a blonde ale that served as a much-loved refreshment for the debut of surf-film screening. Download the PDFs, hit up Home Brew Mart for the ingredients and enjoy a day creating one or both of these beers on the home front.

Glorious Glide Blonde Ale

A summary from Home Brew Mart Assistant Manager Derek Lauridsen

Back when the world was young and ignorant of Coronavirus strains and our one-barrel brew system was still new and shiny, we hosted a little party and private release of a surfing documentary in our brewery event space. The beer that we brewed was crisp, refreshing and lightly sweet, like morning sunlight on your face while you wait for the next perfect curl. It was such a hit, we didn’t stop brewing it.

San Diego Homebrew Summer is brought to you by our partners at Ballast Point Brewing, and you can find all of the ingredients to make this pair of beers at Home Brew Mart.
