Recipe: It’s Pretty Lit
Hopnonymous Brewing offers a warm welcome to a former pro's cold IPA recipe
As part of our second-annual Homebrew Summer program, various San Diego County breweries have teamed with amateur brewers to produce their homespun recipes on their commercial systems, then tap the resultant beers in their tasting rooms. On top of that, the homebrewers involved are sharing their recipes so you can recreate them from the comfort of home.
Today’s homebrewer-to-homebrewer contribution comes from Chris Angel and the hospitable folks at Kearny Mesa’s Hopnonymous Brewing. Together they have concocted a very chill, severely hot “cold IPA” going by the name It’s Pretty Lit. That beer just debuted at Hopnonymous Brewing and is ready for you to experience. And if you’d like to experience it on the home-front, we have the recipe available below so you can brew it yourself.
Check back to San Diego Beer News throughout the summer for more recipes as well as release dates for other pro-am beers. It’s shaping up to be a great summer for homebrewers and beer fans alike, and we’re glad to have you along for the ride!
We chose Chris Angel because of his avid love for homebrewing. He took his passion and became head brewer for a former San Diego brewery. Chris has exited the industry for now to pursue his original passion in cold-box maintenance and restoration, which gives him plenty of time to brew at his home and expand his impressive barrel program.”
Hunter Mannix, Head Brewer, Hopnonymous Brewing
I had an amazing time collaborating with the Hopnonymous team. It felt great to get back into a commercial brewery. My favorite styles of beer are West Coast IPAs and lagers, so when Hunter said he was thinking about trying to brew a cold IPA, I was pretty excited. I cannot wait to see how the final product tastes.”
