Recipe: Hop ‘Em Sock ‘Em

Duck Foot Brewing offers up the recipe for an IPA with Beer of the Week status

As part of our second-annual Homebrew Summer program, various San Diego County breweries will be sharing recipes for some of their most popular beers, which have been scaled-down for amateur brewers to try their hands at from the comfort of home.

Next up on the professional-to-recreational info-sharing train is the recipe for Hop ‘Em Sock ‘Em from Duck Foot Brewing. Fortified with plenty of Amarillo and Simcoe hops, this classic West Coast IPA enjoyed Beer of the Week status right here on San Diego Beer News in 2021. Download the recipe, brew the beer and enjoy the beer over several weeks from the comfort of home.

Check back to San Diego Beer News throughout the summer for more recipes as well as release dates for beers developed by local homebrewers which will be brewed at local breweries and tapped in their tasting rooms. It’s going to be a great summer for homebrewers and beer fans alike, and we’re glad to have you along for the ride!

This 6.5% ABV (alcohol-by-volume) West Coast IPA uses a classic hop combo to bring all the citrus and pine you could possibly desire. This beer was a core beer at Duck Foot for several years, but in our quest to keep moving forward, we set this one aside for a little while. We sure do miss it, so we thought it was time to share the recipe with you. The Simcoe and Amarillo work so well together to create that citrus punch with a piney background. It is a classic San Diego IPA with a light body and big hop character.”
