Pure Project partners with Empanada Kitchen

Central American-borne brewery teams with local op to offer traditional South American food at Bankers Hill taproom

Pure Project Brewing is partnering with Empanada Kitchen, a San Diego-based restaurant, to offer freshly baked empanadas at its Balboa Park taproom.

Empanada Kitchen was born in 2016 from a desire to bring a piece of Argentine culinary culture to San Diego. Now, it is a beloved staple for its handmade, authentic Argentine-style empanadas based on family recipes. The dough for their empanadas is shipped straight from Argentina, and they offer a variety of fillings to please many palates.

“Partnering with Empanada Kitchen was a natural choice for us,” said Pure Project co-founder Mat Robar. “We are no strangers to food-and-beer pairings, and Empanada Kitchen’s empanadas match the quality we look for in pairings for our beers. We hope this offering makes visiting our Balboa Park taproom even more enjoyable.”

Empanada Kitchen founder Matias Rigali echoed these sentiments. “We are thrilled about this collaboration with our San Diego neighbors at Pure Project. We share high-quality standards for our products, and you can truly taste the difference. Pure Project’s beers are a beautiful accompaniment for our empanadas!”

Pure Project will offer classic Empanada Kitchen fan-favorites like chicken, which pairs well with Pure’s core murky IPA, Diamond Dust, and sweet corn with basil, complemented by their Pilsner, Rain. The menu features meat and vegetarian options with rotating empanada flavors available for purchase.

Pure Project will begin selling Empanada Kitchen’s empanadas at their Balboa Park taproom on
Friday, August 2.
