The annual East Village Oktoberfest promises an evening of craft beer, tasty cuisine, live music, competition and more at Quartyard
Prost! Raise those steins and prepare for the 8th Annual East Village Oktoberfest, happening Saturday, October 5 from 12 pm to 6 p.m. Hosted by Quartyard in partnership with the East Village Association, the massive celebration will feature a fusion of German tradition and Mexican flair, complete with plenty of craft beer, classic Oktoberfest cuisine, live Polka and banda music, tribute bands, a showcase of vintage cars, and a plethora of interactive games for maximum enjoyment.
“It’s that time of the year again! Dust off those lederhosen and dirndl because the 8th Annual East Village Oktoberfest is right around the corner.” said Dominic Li Mandri, District Manager of the East Village Association. “There’s nothing that brings people together more than a fun time and some great brews and we are thrilled to partner with Quartyard again this year to celebrate the German tradition with a fun twist in the heart of Downtown. We can’t wait to see you all there!”
This dynamic event will shine a spotlight on the rich history of German influence on Mexican lager, music, and cuisine. During the brief reign of Austrian-born Mexican Emperor Maximiliano I in the 1800s, many German and Austrian immigrants moved to Mexico and established breweries. The lager beer, along with other elements of their cultural traditions and music, quickly gained popularity and became integral to Mexican culture. Today, the German influence on various aspects of Mexican culture will be celebrated at the East Village Oktoberfest!
Attendees can look forward to indulging in a diverse selection of top-notch lagers, ales, and local brews straight from the taps at Quartyard and from some of San Diego’s finest breweries. Alongside the array of beverages, guests will savor the best of both German and Mexican culinary delights, including beloved treats like soft pretzels with beer mustard, Bavarian sausages, tacos from El Comal at Quartyard, and more! The footprint will be bustling with a sprawling arrangement of communal tables, providing ample space for attendees to gather with both friends and newfound acquaintances, relishing in the delicious fare and festive atmosphere.
This year’s event will be hosted within Quartyard and on Market St between 13th Street and 14th Street, allowing for even more people to come out and celebrate. These fenced-in streets will pulsate with live musical performances spanning from traditional Polka melodies to tribute bands and rhythms infused with a Latin twist at the main vignette of entertainment. LA’s all-women top Bavarian party band, Ladyhosen, will headline the celebration and bring guests to their feet. Musicians and attendees alike are invited to don traditional Oktoberfest attire like lederhosen and dirndl, evoking the spirit of Munich right in the East Village neighborhood.
The East Village Oktoberfest promises an array of captivating activities and competitions, from a classic car show to dual stages of live entertainment and engaging games hosted by San Diego favorite, SDHosted. The celebration is open to attendees 21+. Tickets are priced between $10-$25 and a limited number of VIP tickets, priced at $60 plus a service fee are also available. To purchase tickets, click here.
