Novo Brazil Brewing taking over OB tasting room

Former Culture Brewing space in Ocean Beach secured by Chula Vista brewery

Last December, Chula Vista’s Novo Brazil Brewing opened the doors to its second location, a massive, 12,000-square-foot brewpub in the heart of the Otay Ranch Town Center mall. That facility’s five-barrel system allows Novo Brazil’s brewing team to be more experimental, producing a greater variety of beers as well as numerous other beverages, including hard kombucha and seltzers.

In May, the Eastlake-based company secured a space in which to install its third, northernmost location, a tasting room in Ocean Beach that will showcase the business’ full line of beverage options with a focus on its hard kombucha. That project is expected to debut to the public sometime this fall.

It will be located on Newport Avenue in the 1,600-square-foot spot that housed a tasting room previously operated by Culture Brewing since 2014. That Solana Beach-based company—which sells 100% of its beer in its tasting rooms and operates a satellite venue in Encinitas with another set to open later this year in L.A.’s Manhattan Beach—vacated OB in April.

Ocean Beach isn’t the only community Novo Brazil is preparing to enter. Last October, company co-founder Tiago Carneiro announced plans to open a branded bar as part of the 9,000-square-foot, work-in-progress Market on 8th food and beverage collective in National City. That project’s delivery timeline is unknown at present.
