Novo Brazil celebrating 10 years
Padres, SDSU Men’s Basketball, Wave FC and San Diego FC to join brewing company's party at Otay Mesa brewpub
Novo Brazil Brewing will celebrate its tenth anniversary with a sports-themed party at its Otay Ranch brewpub on Saturday, August 10 from 4 to 9:30 p.m. The San Diego Padres, San Diego State University men’s basketball team, San Diego Wave FC and San Diego FC will all have representatives at the celebration.
The event is free to attend and it will include appearances by the Padres’ Swinging Friar mascot and Pad Squad members, student athletes from the SDSU men’s basketball team (via Name, Image, Likeness partner MESA Foundation), and players from Wave FC who will sign autographs and play soccer with kids in attendance.
Live music will be featured throughout the afternoon and evening, and performers include Puro Feeling Band from 4 to 6 p.m., Mariachi Internacional San Diego from 7:30 to 8:15 p.m., and DJ Chino from 8:15 to 9:30 p.m.
There will be a bouncy castle for kids and giveaways throughout the day, including Lululemon gift cards, Road Runner Sports insole products, Great American Cookies gift cards, and merchandise from the Padres, San Diego FC, MESA Foundation, and Wave FC.
Brewmaster Guilherme Hoffmann will present a tenth anniversary beer, a small-batch 6% alcohol-by-volume hazy pale ale that was brewed at Novo Brazil’s Imperial Beach microbrewery.
“Building community is just as important to Novo as brewing beer,” said Novo Brazil founder Tiago Carneiro. “We have been incredibly blessed to call San Diego and the South Bay home for ten years and we look forward to the next ten. We love everyone in our community and we hope everyone will come celebrate, not just Novo, but all our great sports teams and our vibrant community as a whole.”
Novo Brazil was founded by Carneiro in 2014 in Eastlake with its brewery headquarters and tasting room on Lane Avenue. Otay Ranch was the brewery’s first brewpub to open in 2019. The Imperial Beach location opened in November 2022, followed by the Mission Valley brewpub in January 2024. A San Antonio, Texas, location is scheduled to open later this year.
