Local-legend collab beer returns
Karl Strauss Brewing and Pizza Port Brewing get back in the brewhouse to rebrew and re-release collaboration IPA, Nectaron of the Gods

Karl Strauss Brewing and Pizza Port Brewing, two legends of the San Diego brewing scene, have re-released their fan-favorite collaboration, Nectaron of the Gods IPA. The tropical West Coast IPA returns as part of Karl Strauss’ 2025 Ridiculously Limited Release Series with part of the proceeds benefiting Restaurants Care, a nonprofit fund that supports California restaurant workers facing unexpected hardships.
At 6.8% alcohol-by-volume, Nectaron of the Gods bursts with notes of passionfruit, grapefruit, peach and pineapple, thanks to a bold hop blend of Nectaron and Elani. A golden pour, medium body and crisp, citrusy finish make this a quintessential San Diego-style IPA. The beer, which was first released in 2023, is available on draft and in four packs of 16-ounce cans at Karl Strauss brewpubs in 4S Ranch, Carlsbad, Downtown and Sorrento Mesa, as well as at Pizza Port’s San Diego County locations in Bressi Ranch, Carlsbad, Imperial Beach, Ocean Beach, San Marcos and Solana Beach. Consumers can also use the Karl Strauss Beer Finder to find Nectaron of the Gods.
One dollar from every pint sold on release day today will be donated to Restaurants Care, along with 1% of all California sales during the beer’s entire run. The initiative is part of Karl Strauss’ broader 2025 commitment to support the nonprofit through each beer in the Ridiculously Limited Release Series.
“Pizza Port is a pillar of the San Diego brewing community, and we feel fortunate to be longtime friends and collaborators,” said Karl Strauss Brewmaster Paul Segura (pictured above, at right). “Brewing with their team is about more than just beer—it’s about camaraderie, and that’s why this partnership with Restaurants Care feels so meaningful. We get to support the people who make this industry what it is—our teammates, our partners, our peers.”
“We’re thrilled to bring this beer back,” said Pizza Port Director of Brewing Sean Farrell (pictured above, center). “It’s a delicious reminder of what happens when two classic breweries come together, and it feels great to tie it to a cause that supports the people behind the scenes of every pint poured.”
Pizza Port and Karl Strauss have a combined 17 brewpubs in Southern California and employ hundreds of food-and-beverage team members.
The beer will also be featured May 31 – June 1 at Fiesta Del Sol in Solana Beach, where Karl Strauss and Pizza Port are the exclusive beer partners of the 44th annual celebration of music, art, and local culture.
Nectaron of the Gods marks the second of KARL’s Ridiculously Limited Releases in 2025, to be followed by Squawk Box, a collaboration with Green Cheek Beer Co., and Peanut Butter Cup Porter.
