Beyond IPAs, lagers and stouts lies a tart, funky world of wild ales, beers that are fermented using wild yeast, microorganisms and even bacteria, then aged in barrels, often times with fruit. They represent something of a next-level where beermaking is concerned and on this segment, San Diego Beer News founder Brandon Hernández showcases wild ales from a quartet of local operations, San Marcos’ Wild Barrel Brewing, Vista-based Pure Project Brewing, Helix Brewing‘s Sourworx operation in La Mesa, and Sorrento Valley’s California Wild Ales. Take a walk on the wild side and remember to tune in to the FOX 5 Morning News the second Tuesday of each month for our segments about San Diego County beer!
