Celebrity chef to release new IPA
Working in conjunction with WestBrew, chef Lauren Lawless will launch Flawless IPA next month
Today, Flawless Beer Co., the San Diego craft-beer brand founded by TV personality, personal chef and author Lauren Lawless, announced the second in its line of brews, Lawless IPA (6.5% alcohol-by-volume). The new IPA was crafted in partnership with San Diego’s WestBrew, a boutique brewery with locations in Del Mar, Vista and Downtown San Diego.
Paying homage to Chef Lawless’ local roots, Lawless IPA is a true San Diego-style IPA. Floral in nature, it features a light malt bill and showcases hop aromas along with huge flavors of citrus and berries. Rice is also used in the mash, providing a nice dryness. It’s great for both IPA-lovers and those new to the beer scene.
“Being from Southern California, which features a booming beer culture, this IPA is near and dear to my heart,” said Lawless. “To build on my lineup, I wanted to create a beer that is approachable but still unique. This beer is a bit bolder and has a hint more hops when compared to Flawless Blonde Ale. Though with its floral and bright notes, it’s great for beer-lovers or even those new to the game. It’s incredible on its own, but also pairs well with various flavors and cuisines in the area, from beer-battered fish tacos to ramen.”
Chef Lawless, who has cooked on some of the world’s most prestigious culinary stages, including Hell’s Kitchen, MasterChef, Chopped, Supermarket Stakeout and more, continues her endeavor into the world of craft beer with the unveiling of this second brew by Flawless Beer Co. In a space rarely explored by celebrity chefs and one that remains predominantly male, Chef Lawless aims to inspire the world, one plate and one beer at a time.
The new Lawless IPA builds on a lineup in partnership with WestBrew that had originated with Flawless Blonde Ale, which launched in 2023. Flawless Blonde is an easy-drinking and visually appealing beer, with a light golden color made from Tettnang, Cascade and Lemondrop hops. Rounded and smooth with notes of lemon and melon, the beer is high in carbonation and finishes with modest malty notes, leaving imbibers with a light, crisp and refreshing taste.
Chef Lawless overcame an abusive childhood to become a self-made success. Using a non-traditional approach to cuisine and brewing, this is just the first wave of what’s to come. The launch of her second Flawless brew comes in tandem with her cookbook, Flawless Cuisine: Inspiring The World One Plate at a Time, which is on sale now via Amazon.
Lawless IPA will be available for purchase in four-packs of 16-ounce cans at select retail locations and restaurants in February 2024. Those interested in a first taste test of the new brew are invited to join Lawless at her Cookbook Carnival & Beer Bash this evening. Register to attend online.
