CCBA’s Summit Beer Festival is back

After a six-year absence, the California Craft Brewers Association's grand event celebrating the state's beermakers is returning in Torrance

On November 7, the Summit Beer Festival will make its return for the first time since 2019. The California Craft Brewers Association (CCBA) is excited to once again showcase the creativity and excellence in California craft beer. The event will be held on a portion of the tarmac at Torrance Municipal Airport (Zamperini Field). Not only will attendees be able to watch planes take off from other runways, but historic planes will be parked amongst the beer-pouring stations for attendees to admire up close.

“The CCBA feels now is the right time to bring back the Summit Beer Festival,” said CCBA Executive Director Kelsey McQuaid-Craig. “We hear a lot of doom and gloom about craft beer, but the reality is that people still love craft beer and are looking for ways to engage with their favorite craft breweries. Given all that has happened in the industry and the world in the last six years since our last festival, CCBA is excited to provide an excuse for people to get together and celebrate. We cannot wait to share a beer with you in November!”

Where California Craft Beer Takes Flight

There are many beer festivals out there for consumers to attend, but the Summit Beer Festival is the only one that will feature breweries exclusively from California, planned by the biggest advocates for craft beer in the state, the CCBA.

“Since 1989, CCBA has been the voice for California’s independent craft beer. The Summit Beer Festival is another way CCBA advocates for craft breweries, showcasing the amazing creativity of these small businesses. This festival will be a showcase of all that is good in California craft beer and the CCBA Board of Directors cannot wait to share the experience with you,” said CCBA Chair and FiftyFifty Brewing CXO Alicia Barr.

Thanks to the Western Museum of Flight, festival attendees will be able to get up close to aircraft parked within the festival grounds. Their collection includes unique and prototype aircraft, target drones, and piston and jet aircraft engines. The museum will also be open during the Summit Beer Festival so that attendees can look at their collection and even sit in the cockpit of a Northrop F-5A Freedom Fighter.

The Summit Beer Festival will create a truly unique experience for attendees while we bring together breweries, consumers, and local elected officials from across the State of California to remind everyone that craft beer is about community.

“The CCBA’s goal is to grow the Summit Beer Festival into the premier craft beer festival in California. Craft beer fans will celebrate the importance of California craft beer and experience breweries they normally wouldn’t have access to,” said CCBA Events and Fundraising Committee Chair and Smog City Brewing owner Laurie Porter. “We are excited to energize our customers and get them together to celebrate craft beer!”

The list of participating breweries can be found online. The list will be updated as new breweries sign up. Consumer tickets will go on sale this summer.
