Calling all brewers for an all-county collaboration!

Pro brewers from local beer companies are invited to help brew a special IPA for the 2024 San Diego Beer News Awards

There will be many firsts at the 2024 San Diego Beer News Awards Ceremony. For the first time ever, the event will include an expo spotlighting the goods and services of several beer-industry vendors as well as a pre-show next-generation hop-growers panel presented by banner sponsor Yakima Chief Hops. Two new trophies will be handed out, the Nate Soroko Community Impact Award and the San Diego Brewers Guild Outstanding Service Award. Additionally, winning beers from previous San Diego Beer News Awards competitions will be on tap, as will one very special collaboration beer that we want some help with…

That’s right. We’re inviting local brewers who want to have a hand in this year’s collaboration beer to come over and be part of something fun and special. The beer will be a San Diego-style IPA that fits with the 2024 San Diego Beer News Awards’ theme: Celebrating the Next Generation. The aforementioned Yakima Chief Hops is providing a variety of cutting-edge, new and experimental hops for the beer, so it will be packed with more HBCs than you can shake a stick at and show off what those next-generation varietals have to offer!

The yet-to-be-named beer – which may very well end up getting a clever moniker during the collaboration brew day – will be tapped at the 2024 San Diego Beer News Awards Ceremony, taking place from 5 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26 at Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens – Liberty Station. The event is free to attend and open to one and all!

Collaboration and camaraderie are what San Diego’s beer scene is based on. We feel there is no better way to celebrate the best the local brewing industry has to offer than by getting good people together to brew, and look forward to welcoming scores of San Diego brewers to what is hopefully the first of many such future events.
