ALT 94.9 FM: Coronado Brewing

2026 Beercasts Placard

This week, Jeremy Pritchard from ALT 94.9 FM reconnects with Brendan Kragel from Coronado Brewing Company (CBC). The impetus? Why, a new beer, of course. But not just any new beer. Jeremy was keen to get his palate around the newest entry in CBC’s Weekend Series of IPAs. Listen in on a week of hop-heavy segments that include every beer from that lineage and more! Take it away, Jeremy…

Monday | Weekend Vibes IPA: I’ve been trying to nail down Brendan since the launch of the latest addition to CBC’s Weekend Series. This week, he drops by to talk about Hazy Weekend, but before we get there we set a baseline with the beer that started the series off, Weekend Vibes. A San Diego-style IPA packed with Mosaic, Citra and Simcoe, this 6.8% ABV (alcohol-by-volume) beer is an easy all-weekend crush.

Tuesday | Orange Ave. Wit: Today, we revisit a longstanding San Diego OG beer that’s sporting a new look! This classic is Orange Ave., a drinkable 5.2% wheat beer with notes of orange and honey. The new packaging makes the beer jump off the shelf as much as the flavor does.

Wednesday | Hazy Weekend Hazy IPA: It’s time for the crown jewel of the week! The latest edition of CBC’s Weekend Series is a hazy monster chock full of Pineapple Express terpenes (no THC), which give the beer a very distinct aroma and flavor. If you didn’t think weed and hops were cousins before this beer, you’ll know it after you drink it!

Thursday | Bonanza Mango IPA: This beer just recently hit CBC’s pair of taprooms. The latest in the company’s Chasing Waves series, Bonanza Mango IPA pays tribute to a Canadian surf break. But don’t worry, there’s no notes of maple syrup in this beer. Instead, expect a mango fruit bomb that will keep you coming back again and again and again.

Friday | Big Weekend Double IPA: We’ve saved the biggest for last. On his last day in the studio, Brendan unleashes the highest-alcohol entry in the Weekend Series. Big Weekend Double IPA is a deceptively easy-to-drink imperial IPA that, as Brendan puts it, is “very efficient” at almost 9%. Release the weekend!
