91X Beer for Breakfast: Pacific Beach AleHouse

A brewpub that's been serving PB for 20 years has a stout that bucks the misconception dark beers and beach weather don't go together

2026 Beercasts Placard

For the past two decades, Pacific Beach AleHouse has been serving up house beers in tandem with good times and exquisite views from its open-air second-story deck. On this segment of Beer for Breakfast, the crew focuses on the former, sampling a pair of Head Brewer Dan Enjem’s creations. That duo includes 858 Blonde and Soledad Stout. The latter is an imperial stout with a bouquet that inspires a conversation about the proper pronunciation of the word anise, and bold flavors that evoke memories of chomping on chocolate-covered break-apart orange confections. All that plus a side trip down memory lane to discuss Brewmaster Paul’s own vocational ties to PB. Intrigued? Take a listen!
