When one hears the words “beachside brewpub”, they’re bound to expect a tap list jam-packed with lagers, IPAs and other sunny-weather brews. But at Ocean Beach’s namesake institution, OB Brewery, their head brewer explores lesser-trod Old World territory. Not only that, but he wins awards for his sterling recreations of beer styles you’re unlikely to find anywhere else in the county. Take a listen as the BFB crew samples two such beers, including a dunkelweizen that struck silver at the recent World Beer Cup and a smoked German lager that nabbed a medal at the 2026 San Diego County Fair‘s professional brewing competition.
