What We're Drinking 2026
Gene Fielden at Bottlecraft North Park

Gene Fielden | Bottlecraft North Park Manager

It was a distinct delight to see so many of you at the San Diego Beer News Awards at Harland Brewing on March 31! Hats off to Brandon Hernández, the mastermind behind it all. Following are three gold medal-winning beers available at Bottlecraft!

Burgeon Mixed Greens | West Coast Double IPA (8%): A perennial favorite from the Carlsbad crew, Mixed Greens comes around but once a year. Always a sturdy West Coast double IPA, the recipe changes slightly each iteration – typically within the hop-bill. The 2026 edition is laden with Columbus, Krush, Mosaic (in large quantities) and Simcoe, making for a sticky and piney beer. Congratulations to Burgeon Beer Co. for their gold medal in the Katie Earle Memorial Imperial IPA Award category!

Pure Project Rain | Kellerpils (5.3%): One of the most beloved of core beers from Pure Project Brewing! Translucent rather than transparent, a Kellerpils is effectively an unfiltered version of the immortal Pilsner. With a touch more body and depth, but still a bright clean lager, Rain is available year-round (unlike actual rain around here!). Congratulations to Pure Project for their gold medal in the Best Pilsner category!

The Lost Abbey Devotion | Belgian-style Blonde Ale (6%): The most venerable of the winners this year, Devotion emphasizes subtlety and elegance in brewing. A dry-hopped blonde ale in the Belgian tradition, with expressive clovey yeast to match, this beer has been part and parcel of The Lost Abbey Brewing since its inception. Cheers to them for their gold medal in the Bill Snider Memorial Belgian Ale Award category!
