This week, Ballast Point Brewing Brand Ambassador Jeff Lozano visits the ALT 94.9 FM studios to chat with Jeremy Pritchard about a special event called The “Art of Beer”. Taking place today and celebrating the art of brewing as well as the art of local breweries, it will feature a who’s-who roster of invitees from beer companies all over San Diego County. Take it away, Jeremy…

Monday | Hard Cherry Cola: It’s been too long since we’ve seen Jeff in the studio. This week he drops in to talk about The Art of Beer showcase, an event based around some of San Diego’s oldest and most storied breweries. The crazy thing is, Ballast Point isn’t even pouring its own beer! So, we start things off with Karl Strauss Brewing and their cherry-soda-flavored hard seltzer.

Tuesday | Tora! Japanese Lager: It’s not just another day, but another day that Jeff didn’t bring in a Ballast Point beer. Instead, we sip on Fall Brewing‘s Japanese-style rice lager and talk about how the Miramar-based company’s can art really separates the from every other six-pack on store shelves.

Wednesday | Hazy Weekend Hazy IPA: It is noticeably dank in the studio and it’s not because someone dropped by the dispensary. It’s because we’re tasting the brand-new hazy IPA from Coronado Brewing. Adding to their “Weekend” line-up of beers, this hazy is exactly what you would imagine a hazy weekend in San Diego tasting like.

Thursday | Coastin’ Tropical IPA: With the plethora of tropical IPAs on the market these days, I was surprised to see Pizza Port Brewing throwing their flower-ringed straw hat in the ring, but in true Pizza Port form, they make this IPA true to style and focus on the hoppiness of their beer with a hint of tropical-ness.

Friday | The Visitor IPA: Wrapping up a week of showcasing their friends’ beers, Ballast Point’s reps end with a beer that traversed space and time to arrive in our glasses. That intergalactically well-traveled IPA comes from Societe Brewing, goes by the name The Visitor, and comes across bright with hints of pine and a clean, balanced finish.
