What We're Drinking 2026
Gene Fielden at Bottlecraft North Park

Gene Fielden | Bottlecraft North Park Manager

Cellarmaker One Foot in the Grave | West Coast IPA (6.3%): The indomitable Cellarmaker Brewing ‒ born in San Francisco but now comfortably ensconced in my hometown of Berkeley ‒ continues to fly the flag for West Coast IPAs! The macabre One Foot in the Grave combines old-school Centennial, Nelson representing the Southern Hemisphere and Krush (formerly known as HBC 586) into one hell of a beer. Put your best foot forward!

Ghost Town Cinder | Hoppy Pilsner (5.1%): As I write these words, these fresh cans have just rolled in at Bottlecraft North Park! Ghost Town Brewing ‒ operating out of the eponymous West Oakland neighborhood ‒ makes some of the best hoppy beer in the entire Bay Area. Trust me on this one, for I have tasted a pile of them! Cinder is a delicate Pilsner with Nelson and Riwaka, both emanating from New Zealand. Dry and firmly bitter, this is a lager for hopheads.

Humble Forager / Horus Splashing Chains | Imperial Stout (14%): Hailing from the Upper Midwest, Humble Forager Brewery makes beers of all stripes but is best known in this neck of the woods for their heavily fruited sour beers and seltzers. We were offered the chance to pre-order some of their anniversary imperial stout releases, however, and are very glad that we took their distributor up on it! In collaboration with famed Oceanside operation Horus Aged Ales, Splashing Chains is a decadent and toothsome stout. Pouring like motor oil (or soft-serve ice-cream off the tap), this beer is laden with coconut, coffee, hazelnut and maple syrup. The name and iconography references the game of disc golf, a pastime enjoyed by many around here ‒ a true year-round activity!
