Few beer enterprises are as aptly named as Escondido’s Backyard Brewery. Located in the literal shadow of the hill housing Stone Brewing‘s castle-like headquarters with its sprawling gardens is this small, one-man operation. A cult-fave among locals for its intimate charm and in-house homebrew-supply store, it’s a place you probably haven’t heard of until now. Ditto Backyard’s beers, two of which are featured in this segment, starting with Gulp of America IPA, followed by a red ale Wild Wild West (a nod to the aforementioned Wild West Homebrew Supply Co.).
