An all-rainbows edition of the picks this week in honor of San Diego Pride!

Cellarmaker Wide Rainbows | Hazy IPA (6.4%): Ever since they moved across the Bay from San Francisco to Berkeley, merging with The Rare Barrel in the process, Cellarmaker Brewing has been a hometown brewery for me. I can walk there in 30 minutes (or bike it in under ten) from my mother’s house. Any IPA of theirs is a must-order, new recipe or returning favorite! Wide Rainbows debuts down here with a cloudburst of Centennial, Nelson, Riwaka and Strata. A vision in a glass, this one is worth waiting out the rainstorm for.

Wayfinder Party Time | German Pilsner (5.3%): Where can one draw the line between a dry-hopped German Pilsner and an Italian Pilsner? Much like the age-old conundrum about porters and stouts, it really comes down to whatever the brewer wishes to call it. Party Time falls into the first stylistic category by its own self-description, with classic Noble hops providing herbal lift. The rainbow in this entry can be found on the label, drenched with color saturation.

Grimm Rainbow Dome | Oak-aged Sour Ale (4.6%): The dry-hopped sour beer may have had its heyday, but there are still ardent fans out there, somewhere over the rainbow. Grimm Artisan Ales out of Brooklyn periodically drops one of their esoteric oak-conditioned tart ales with aromatic hopping, with or without fruits. Rainbow Dome is given the El Dorado treatment, with its watermelon cotton-candy overtones, plus a judicious dose of apricots.
