Other Half / NPBC The Return of Dr. Dank Flowers | West Coast IPA (7.5%): A departure for Other Half Brewing out of Brooklyn, famous the world over for their hazy double IPAs. This double dry-hopped single IPA is a West Coaster, assisted by our friends at North Park Beer Co. With Chinook, Krush, Nectaron and Nelson on the prescription pad, this doctor knows the cures to your ailments. Peach rings, gooseberries and indeed some dankness to be found! As a childhood reader of the Mr. Men line of books by the British author Roger Hargreaves, I greatly appreciate the label art as well.
Wayfinder La Magie | French Pilsner (5.3%): Just in time for Bastille Day, Wayfinder Beer has come back with their delicious French-style pilsner. The Portlanders have fine form with lagers of every ilk ‒ this one is a longtime staff favorite around here. With Strißelspalt hops from the Alsace at the avant-garde, La Magie has wildflower and subtle peppercorn notes, with generous carbonation. À votre santé!
Smog City Bourbon Barrel-aged Olde English | Bourbon Barrel-aged Barleywine (12.2%): Arguably the best beer of all by Torrance operation Smog City Brewing, Bourbon Barrel-aged O.E. is a once-a-year release eagerly awaited by barleywine fans. An English barleywine by style (as opposed to the hoppier American cousin), this beer is inherently malt-driven and slumbers in bourbon barrels for over a year before seeing the light of day. Raisin, toffee, treacle and vanillins make for a sumptuous treat.
