Beer of the Week: Bundled Up at 65

From the Beer Writer: As a lifelong San Diegan who regularly travels to other parts of the country, many of which feature four entirely distinct seasons, the majority of which are far cooler than the climate in my hometown, I’m used to being razzed about wearing hoodies, sweatshirts, jackets and other cold-weather gear while the strangers in these strange lands sport shorts and tank-tops. My reply to such quips? “Hey, it costs a lot to be this meteorologically frail.” I love that San Diego is so steadily seventy-five-and-sunny. So does the owner of One Season Brewing, a two-year-old beer business installed at a coffee roaster in Grantville. Its name refers to San Diego’s endless summer and an array of thirst-quenching beers, which are built to pair well with the sun and the bevy of activities its presence allows our citizenship (and sandal-clad tourists from colder climates who I notice are far less sarcastic when they’re on our turf) to enjoy year-round. This week’s beer, a cold IPA dubbed Bundled Up at 65, is a great example. Light-bodied and rife with lager-yeast minerality, it’s a nice post-hike or end-of-surf-sesh refresher.
