Great Notion / Living Haus Little Haus of Horrors | Hazy Double IPA (9%): Feed me, Seymour! Inspired by the horror comedy musical Little Shop of Horrors, the 1986 film version of which features a rogue’s gallery of talent, this hazy double IPA from Great Notion is a collab with fellow Oregonians Living Haus Beer Co. With El Dorado, Nelson and Strata in the mix, alongside the curious Phantasm product that has dusted many IPAs of late, this beer is as dank and green as the carnivorous plant Audrey II.
Great Notion Evil Red | Tart Red Ale (8.1%): All right you primitive screw-heads, listen up! With one of the more macabre labels to grace our shelves of late, Evil Red pays homage to the Sam Raimi trilogy of Evil Dead films. With a cornucopia of fruits (apple, apricot, guava, passionfruit, pineapple and tangerine) all blended into purée, expect a veritable crimson vortex of flavors. Shop Smart. Shop S-Mart…oh, and Bottlecraft!
White Labs FrankenStout | Imperial Stout (9.6%): We are truly lucky here in San Diego to have White Labs in town. The Miramar company helps supply many of your favorite homebrewers and craft breweries alike with healthy, vibrant yeast for their creations. It is rare to see their beers available outside of their tasting room, but this Halloween release is a welcome exception. Boasting 96 (!) different strains in one mega-blend, this imperial stout is as formidable and imposing as Boris Karloff. Like the monster itself, this beer knows not why it was summoned to life…now we must accept its existence on our shelves.
