If you can believe it, San Diego Beer News founder Brandon Hernández has been cracking local brews on the airwaves via 91X‘s Beer for Breakfast program for an entire year. (He certainly can’t believe he’s lasted this long!) To celebrate, he was invited to bring in some local examples of his favorite style of beer, the humble saison. Also referred to as “farmhouse ales”, these beers of Belgian and French origin vary from producer to producer and batch to batch. Listen in as the crew pops corks on an oak-aged mixed-fermentation saison from Pure Project Brewing called Madeline, and a dry-hopped Brettanomyces-spiked saison from The Lost Abbey dubbed Carnevale. Cheers to local, independently brewed farmhouse ales…and Brandon’s freshman season!
