When it comes to laidback breweries, they don’t get much more chill than Helix Brewing. This La Mesa institution keeps things simple, churning out quality beers in kickback environs. Even their nine-year anniversary, which will take place from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, is no-muss-no-fuss. There’s no ticket site and no cover charge, just good beer and good vibes. Show up and get a pour of either of the two beers owner Cameron Ball shared with the BFB crew. Those IPAs, which happen to be Helix’s first-ever hazies, go by the names Deep Thinker and Haze for Horses, and should help to hop up this East County mainstay’s festivities quite nicely.
