May is Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, and a local brewery is going to great lengths to not only celebrate that but also shine a spotlight on AAPI-owned breweries. That business is Scripps Ranch-based Harland Brewing, and starting this weekend, they will be releasing a limited-edition collaboration beer brewed with an AAPI-owned brewing company (including North Park’s own GOAL. Brewing) every Friday in May. That’s really cool, and so are the Harland beers that the Beer for Breakfast crew sampled in this segment. Settle in and savor their impressions of Li Hing Mui, a sour ale brewed with an exotic ingredient of Hawaiian origin, and Friends of Wren, an IPA conjured in collaboration with powerhouse Arizona beer op, Wren House Brewing.
Harland Brewing’s taprooms are located at 10115 Carroll Canyon Road in Scripps Ranch, 3718 Paseo Place in Carmel Valley, 4112 Napier Street in Bay Park and 2953 Beech Street in South Park
