Announcing this year’s Homebrew Summer brewers

Over the past five years, local breweries have generously participated in San Diego Beer News’ Homebrew Summer program. They’ve done so by allowing our outlet to publish homebrew-scaled recipes for some of their most popular beers, and by teaming with San Diego County homebrewers to bring their recreational creations to life on a commercial scale by brewing and tapping them at their businesses. 

This year we put out the call to breweries and homebrewers alike and are elated to share the participants for the sixth-annual Homebrew Summer.

Of the 23 participating breweries, four – Chula Vista Brewery, Fall Brewing, Michi Brew Co. and Sunny Grove Brewing – are brand-new to Homebrew Summer, bringing the total number of local brewing companies that have taken part in this initiative to 54.

This year’s pro-am beers will be released during the summer, between Sunday, June 21 and Monday, September 21. When all is said and done, Homebrew Summer will have produced 101 pro-am ales and lagers, and the total number of recipes shared with our readers will stand at 150. None of that could happen without the kind and enthusiastic support of the county’s professional brewers and the fervent innovation of the homebrewing masses.
